#The trials of apollo the hidden oracle series#
The latest series from international bestselling author, Rick Riordan He was once an immortal God. But to end on a high note, this book was fantastic overall. The Hidden Oracle The Trials of Apollo Book 1 Book Description: He does start to become his usual self toward the end, but something about him just seemed… off to me. This mainly goes to Percy Jackson, who does show up in the book pretty early on. However, there were a few points in the book where I thought that one of the characters acted really unnatural and not at in character. Apollo was a great narrator, and his point of view put a new spin on many things us “mortals” see as normal. The characters were great, the plot was interesting, and the humor was on point. It has everything you could want in a Rick Riordan book. I would certainly recommend The Hidden Oracle. Personally, I like Magnus Chase’s sarcastic style humor, but Apollo has his own charms as well. But it was fun to see him incorporate those into combat, especially music. Although archery seems great to have in combat, he is no longer at a godly level. He used his talents such as music and archery to his advantage. Also, I really liked how that now that he didn’t have his powers, we get to see him use his other strengths. But I am willing to overlook it because Apollo has an amazing character arc that manages to be realistic and makes sense. Although his godly ego could get annoying sometimes because his own selfishness could cause major problems. And it certainly was interesting to see things from a god’s point of view and how they truly thought. He is so self-absorbed that it’s humorous. One of my favorite things about was Apollo’s narration. And if he didn’t… well, he was the Sun god. That was the only way he could become a god again and return to his former glory. These tests were called The Trials of Apollo (roll credits). He had to pass a series of tests to prove his worth. Apollo, having experienced becoming a mortal before, knew what he had to do. She quickly claims Apollo as hers and the two become companions throughout the book. In fact, what he did have was flab and the dreaded acne! He had become… a teenager! He practically dies, only to be saved by Meg, a demigod girl. He met a few ruffians and learned that he didn’t have any of his powers. This resulted in Apollo landing in New York City (where else?). So, as punishment, Zeus stripped Apollo of his godly powers and made him mortal. It was mentioned in The Blood of Olympus. Now, if you’ve read the previous books in this universe, you might have an idea of what Apollo did to anger him. All reviews on this blog are spoiler free)īasically, the god Apollo had upset Zeus, his father. It is filled with plot twists, heart-pounding action, some emotional moments, and, of course, Riordan’s signature humor. He has created a vast universe with many characters that all still have a unique personality. Need I say more? Rick Riordan has delivered some pretty stunning books and series in the past. Not going to lie, I’m a little nervous about this. Ok, so… this happens to be my first post.
